Following the Champions League title, strikersĀ Gianluca VialliĀ andĀ Fabrizio RavanelliĀ were sold toĀ ChelseaĀ andĀ Middlesbrough, respectively. The club also droppedĀ Pietro Vierchowod,Ā Paulo SousaĀ andĀ Massimo Carrera. Instead, Juventus decided to sign playmakerĀ Zinedine ZidaneĀ fromĀ Bordeaux, along with young strikerĀ Christian Vieri, who signed fromĀ Atalanta.
