OfficialĀ Kappa Juventus home football shirt from the 1996/97 season.

Essentially the same design template as the previous 1995/96 jersey, this season saw the introduction of the updated 'SONY Minidisc' sponsor on the chest.

This is Kappa's official 'basic' version of the jersey, designed to an economical specification. It includes a printed manufacturer logo and gold stars on the chest, and a simpler material mix.

The condition of this vintage football jersey is 8/10 - Excellent. A couple of small faint marks on the shoulder and lower front (see photos).

Juventus F.C.Ā had a successful season, despite rebuilding large parts of the team in spite of theĀ 1996Ā UEFA Champions League title. The result was another domestic title and a second consecutive Champions LeagueĀ final, whereĀ Karl-Heinz RiedleĀ scored twice forĀ Borussia DortmundĀ in a 3–1 victory, thus ensuring Juventus had to settle for only domestic glory.

It was a disappointing end to the season as the club had been impressive in the Champions League, winning 8 games out of 10 on their way to the final and losing none, and beating sides likeĀ Manchester UnitedĀ andĀ AjaxĀ both home and away. However, the team made a complete mess of the final played out in Munich, making uncharacteristic mistakes that were always likely to prove costly against opposition of Dortmund's quality.

New signingĀ Zinedine ZidaneĀ was a revelation, but the most important feature in Juventus's league title was the spectacular form of Alessandro Del Piero, and a defensive force thatĀ Ciro FerraraĀ led towards glory together withĀ Paolo Montero.Ā Christian Vieri, another player signed in the summer of 1996, scored regularly in Champions League games but his less impressive league form (8 goals) saw him sold at the end of the season to make way for new signingĀ Filippo Inzaghi. Vieri would go on to become top scorer of both the Spanish and Italian leagues for the clubs he subsequently played for.
