The condition of this vintage jersey is 8/10 - Excellent. A few little bobbles & pulls on the lower frontĀ (see photos).

Reunified Germany won their first major international title atĀ Euro 1996, becoming the European champions for the third time.Ā They defeated hosts EnglandĀ on penalty kicks (6ā5 after a 1ā1 draw) in the semifinals[Ā and theĀ Czech RepublicĀ 2ā1 in the final, a match decided by aĀ golden goalĀ scored by Oliver Bierhoff.Ā Matthias SammerĀ won theĀ Ballon d'OrĀ in 1996 for his performances for Germany andĀ Borussia Dortmund.
However, in theĀ 1998 World Cup, Germany were again eliminated by a less-heralded opponent in the quarterfinals, this time in a 0ā3 defeat toĀ Croatia. Vogts stepped down afterwards and was replaced byĀ Erich Ribbeck.
Following another early World Cup exit in 1998 along with the retirement of many key players and discouraging results under Ribbeck, Germany's standing as one of the world's elite national sides was in question.
