Inter MilanĀ started off a new era withĀ Roberto ManciniĀ as coach andĀ Massimo MorattiĀ in a more passive role as owner, with club legendĀ Giacinto FacchettiĀ embarking on his first season as president.
Mancini brought several previousĀ LazioĀ players with him to the club, but none of them could make a huge impact, the team instead relying on the goalscoring fromĀ AdrianoĀ during the autumn. In the second half of the season Adriano lost his form, and did not regain it ever again in his Inter career. Therefore Inter have challengeĀ JuventusĀ andĀ MilanĀ for the title, but finish third in the end.
