After finishing 1st in theĀ ChampionshipĀ during the 2006ā07 season,Ā SunderlandĀ were promoted to the Premier League as champions. Sunderland had been relegated in theĀ 2005ā06 seasonĀ with the record low points tally at the time of 15.
