He was replaced by Louis van Gaal, who came out of retirement to return for a third spell in charge of the side.Ā On 16 November 2021, the Netherlands qualified for theĀ 2022 World CupĀ after beatingĀ NorwayĀ 2–0 and topping theirĀ qualification groupĀ on the final day.
