On 17 May 2024, the club announced Coleman had been offered a one-year contract. Coleman signed this contract, extending his time at Everton to the end of June 2025.

On 9 January 2025, following the sacking of manager Sean Dyche, Coleman & Leighton Baines were made joint interim managers of the team ahead of that night's FA Cup tie at home to Peterborough United.
