In theĀ 2018 FIFA World Cup, Portugal were drawn intoĀ Group BĀ with Spain, Morocco and Iran. In their opening match on 15 June, Portugal were against Spain, which ended in a 3–3 draw, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring aĀ hat-trick.Ā 

Ronaldo scored the only goal in a 1–0 victory against Morocco, breaking PuskĆ”s' record.Ā Portugal faced Iran on 25 June, in their final group match, which ended in a 1–1 draw, leading Portugal to progress to the second round as group runners-up behind Spain.Ā On 30 June, Portugal were eliminated following a 2–1 defeat toĀ UruguayĀ in theĀ last 16.
